Trouble Shooting
1) My garage door won't open and I don't have an automatic
opener attached to the door:
- It is possible that you have a broken spring. Look at the springs
that are located either on the wall above your garage door opening OR
they may be located by the horizontal tracks (if your springs are
mounted by the horizontal tracks (attached to the ceiling), you'll have
two springs, one located on each side of the door - so check both of
them). If you see any gaps you need a spring replacement, we recommend
that you replace both of your springs at the same time because they
are rated for the same amount of use and if one just broke the other
will break shortly.

2) My garage door won't open and I do have an automatic
opener attached to the door:
- Make sure your opener has power.
If you continue to allow your automatic opener to
try to lift your door with a broken spring you will wear out the gears,
and motor, which will lead to more costly repairs or a complete opener
replacement.

3) My remote doesn't seem to work.
- Try changing the batteries.
- Is a green light flashing on the wall button (which is the button
mounted inside your garage - usually beside the door that leads into
your house)? If so, your vacation switch is currently activated
and you need to deactivate it by pressing the lock button for approximately
3 seconds.
- The security codes may have been lost due to a power surge or power
failure. Re-program the remote(s), On the motor head simply push and
release the "Learn Button" located above the antenna wire
and below the wire terminals on the back or side of the opener, then
press the button on your remote (repeat these steps for each remote
or Keyless Entry (on Keyless Entry you need to enter your code and press
the enter button) you need to re-program).

4) My remote only works when I get very close to my garage door.
- Try changing the batteries.
- Make sure the antenna is hanging vertically outside of the lens cover
or opener housing.
- Call Boulder Garage Door for service 303-447-1501.
5) My door doesn't close and the automatic opener light bulbs
flash.
- Check the automatic opener's eye sensors, they are little black boxes
attached to the bottom of each side of your garage door opening. There
is an infrared beam that passes between the two sensors, if something
interrupts this beam, or if one or both of these sensors are bumped
out of alignment the automatic opener will not close (opener light
bulbs will flash as a warning to you that something is in the door's
closing path or the eyes are out of alignment).
Solution: There should be a light on each sensor,
if only one sensor has a light on check for something blocking the
beam, if the beam's path is clear one or both of the eye sensors are
probably out of alignment. Simply loosen the wing nut that holds the
eye secure and move the sensor back into alignment, the eyes should
be level and parallel to the door (note: the Sending Eye Sensor
is always lit even though it may be out of alignment so check both
sensors) when both eye sensors are properly aligned both lights
will be lit, re-tightened the wing nut.

6) My door doesn't close all the way, it goes down part way and
then goes back up and the automatic opener lights flash.
- Check the automatic opener's eye sensors, they are little black boxes
attached to the bottom of both sides of your garage door opening. There
is an infrared beam that passes between the two sensors, if something
interrupts this beam, leaves trapped in spider webs hanging from the
bottom of the door, rope, etc. or if one or both of these sensors are
loose the vibration from the door movement can cause the eyes to break
the beam and the opener will not close and the opener lights will flash
as a warning to you.
- Solution: Clean the area around the eyes and the
bottom of your door, refasten the eye brackets and adjust the eyes.
Simply loosen the wing nut that holds the eye secure and move the sensor
back into alignment, the eyes should be level and parallel to the door
(note: the Sending Eye Sensor is always lit even though it may be
out of alignment so check both sensors) when both eye sensors are
properly aligned both lights will be lit, re-tightened the wing nut.

7) My door doesn't close or open sometimes and the automatic
opener light bulbs don't flash.
- Check door for smooth operation, move door up and down slowly by
hand to feel if there are any tight spots or binding, check all rollers
and hinges for smooth operation tighten and lube hinges rollers and
roller shafts inspect cables for fraying if everything is in good condition
adjust opener sensitivity OPENERS ARE DESIGNED TO OPEN AND CLOSE PROPERLY
FUNCTIONING DOORS IF IT IS TOO HARD TO OPEN AND CLOSE FOR YOU, IT'S
TO HARD FOR YOUR OPENER
- Call Boulder Garage Door for service 303-447-1501.
- Adjust opener sensitivity on the Motor Head simply turn the up or
down knob (located above the antenna wire and below the wire terminals
on the back or side of the opener) turn it clockwise to increase
force make small adjustments until the door completes a close cycle.
After each adjustment run the opener through a complete travel cycle.
DO NOT INCREASE THE FORCE BEYOND THE MINIMUM AMOUNT REQUIRED
TO CLOSE OR OPEN THE DOOR
8) Automatic opener sounds like it's working but the door doesn't
move.
- The automatic opener may have been disconnected from the door. Re-connect
the trolley.
- The chain could be off the sprocket, call for service.
- The belt could be broken, call for service.
- There may be a broken spring. Look at the springs at the top of your
door, do you see a gap (about 2 inches) between one of them? Call Boulder
Garage Door for service 303-447-1501.
9) Opener light doesn't come on when door opens.
- The light bulb is probably burned out (but try tightening the
light bulb before you change it, we have found this to be the problem
quite often).
- The light bulb socket on the automatic opener may be bad, call Boulder
Garage Door for service 303-447-1501.
10) The automatic opener light doesn't go out after the delay period.
- The work light may have been activated on the wall switch, simply
turn it off.
- The automatic opener eye sensor may be interrupted by someone or something
(every time someone walks through the sensor beam the light will
stay on for 4.5 minutes).
- Call Boulder Garage Door for service 303-447-1501.
11) I've lost my remote (or my car was stolen with my remote inside),
how do I secure my home (lock-out old remotes and program new remotes)?
- On the Motor Head, push and hold the "Learn Button" for
15 seconds, this will erase all of your remotes (including those
you still have and want to continue to use and Keyless Entry System).
Next push and release the "Learn Button" located above the
antenna wire and below the wire terminals on the back or side of the
opener, and then push and release the button on your remote (repeat
this process for each remote you want to re-program to work with your
opener. For your Keyless Entry System, push and release the "Learn
Button" then enter in your four digit code on the keypad followed
by the "enter" button).
