Check your Eyes - Cont'dThis troubleshooting tip is for all autmatic
openers manufactured by Chamberlain Group, Inc., which include:
- LiftMaster®
- Chamberlain®
- Sears Craftsman®
- TruValue®
- Master Mechanic
- Windsor
- Raynor®
My door doesn't close and the automatic opener lights
flash.
- Check the automatic opener's eye sensors, they are little black
boxes attached to the bottom of each side of your garage door
opening. There is an infrared beam that passes between the two
sensors, if something interrupts this beam, or if one or both
of these sensors are bumped out of alignment the automatic opener
is programmed to open the door but not close the door (opener
light bulbs will flash if you try to close the door as a warning
to you that something is in the door's closing path or the eyes
are out of alignment).
Solution: There should be a light on each
sensor, if only one sensor has a light on check for something
blocking the beam, if the beam's path is clear one or both of
the eye sensors are probably out of alignment. Simply loosen
the wing nut that holds the eye secure and move the sensor back
into alignment (note: the Sending Eye Sensor is always lit even
though it may be out of alignment so check both sensors) when
both eye sensors are properly aligned both lights will be lit,
re-tightened the wing nut.
If this solution doesn't fix the problem or if both sensor's
lights are off, please call for service.
